Google Nexus 6P – Gallery, Specifications and Opinion

Recently while being in Spain I bought the new Nexus 6P, the new flagship of the Nexus family, on Google´s Store. I wanted a new phone for some time now, and I wanted it to be Android. In the last years I´ve had various HTC which I loved but this time there was none really appealing in terms of quality and price. After reading about the Nexus 6P and looking at some reviews I decided that this one would be my new phone. Let´s go over the main specifications and features (in terms of hardware and software), my opinion about the phone after some weeks of use and some photos I did when I received the device.

Features and Specifications

This year Google decided to go with Huawei to produce the new Nexus and between both companies I think they´ve created an admirable device. The Nexus 6P has a size of 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm (6.27 x 3.06 x 0.29 in), weights 178g (6.28oz) and shines with an 5.7 inches AMOLED screen and a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels which provide around 518ppi pixel density. Under the shell we find a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 8 core CPU, an Qualcomm Adreno 430 GPU and 3Gb of RAM all powered by a big 3450mAh battery.

The camera on the back holds a 12,3 megapixel sensor while the front camera features an 8 megapixel sensor. Regarding video recording, the Nexus 6P allows us to choose between various options including 4K at 30fps or 720 at 240fps. The phone does not allow to increase it´s storage space but Google lets us choose between 32, 64 pr 128GB.

Apart from this, the Nexus 6P makes use of a Nano-SIM card, includes a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone and features  an reversible USB Type-C port. Finally, in terms of software, the Nexus 6P is shipped with stock Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and as the previous Nexus phones, it will be the first or one of the first to receive the newest updates.

My Opinion of the Nexus 6P

In my opinion it is the best Android phone I´ve ever used. I´m not going to say it is the best of the year or the best that has ever existed because I haven´t tried them all. But my previous Android phones were all HTC, including the HTC One X and the HTC One (M7), and the Nexus 6P is definitely better. Yes, it features better and more powerful hardware, but the most noticeable improvement is how smoothly it runs, thanks to the stock and unaltered version of Android it runs, without any big adjustments or additional software.

Additionally, the phone is big, a feature I though I would not like but which now I would never change again. And the camera, especially compared to my previous phones, is amazing.

I decided to go with the 64GB Frost White edition. Mostly because I wasn´t sure if 32GB would last long, but 128GB seemed way to much for a mobile phone, and I think it was the right decision. After some weeks of use with music, photos, videos and some games I haven´t used a fourth of the available storage, so I don´t think I´ll need more for the moment.

Since the phone does not come with a protective case or a screen protector, I bought the tempered glass screen protector from iVoler and the “Rugged Armor” case from Spingen on Amazon. Yes, I bought a white phone to cover it with a black case, ironic. No, the truth is that I prefer protection and I can´t be more happy with the case and screen protector I chose.

My veredict? I love this phone, and I honestly think that any Android user that chooses to get one will think the same as me.
